NBSA and their sponsors, Huntsman World Senior Games, Nevada State Games, Wilson Sporting Goods, QuikShotUSA, The Original Ballbag and Free Throw Mastery, recently completed three very successful free throw tournaments.
The Wilson/NBSA Huntsman World Senior Free Throw Championships took place in St. George, UT, with the women’s championship completed on October 5, followed by the men’s championship on October 10. In between these events at St. George, the Wilson/NBSA Nevada State Senior Free Throw Championship, for men and women, was held in Las Vegas on October 9.

World Senior Games Free Throw Championship
In St. George, UT, the Men's World Senior Games Free Throw Championship event qualified fourteen free throw masters shooting 195 - 200 (97.5%), for the eight shooter finals. There were three perfect 25 – 25 scores: Kenneth Katona (OH), Harry Carothers (FL) and Bruce Crane (UT). Eleven qualifiers shot 24 - 25.

World Senior Games Free Throw Championship
In St. George, UT, the Men's World Senior Games Free Throw Championship event qualified fourteen free throw masters shooting 195 - 200 (97.5%), for the eight shooter finals. There were three perfect 25 – 25 scores: Kenneth Katona (OH), Harry Carothers (FL) and Bruce Crane (UT). Eleven qualifiers shot 24 - 25.
Taking place five days before the men’s event, The Women's Senior World Free Throw Championship in St. George didn't fare as well. The ladies shot only 158 - 200 (79%), far below free throw mastery percentages. The highest woman scorer was Ann O'Neill (CO) who shot a 24 -25 (96%), followed by two 23 - 25 (92%) scores from Nancy Nerenberg (OR) and Kay Seamayer (TX).

The NBSA considers 96% or better as free throw mastery, in practice and shooting competition, while qualifying into the finals takes 92%.
Congratulations to Mike Scudder and Gerrianne Lockhart - Walker for winning their respective Senior World Champion titles. It was thrilling to see the turn out of so many of the best free throw mastery shooters in the world, in St. George. Winning these events was a tremendous feat.

Wilson / NBSA Nevada State Senior Games Free Throw Championship
The men's event in Las Vegas qualified 8 free throw masters. There were four perfect scores; Eddie Palubinskas, Bob Owen, Jim "Makevery" Schatz and Duane Shaw. The total qualifying scores for Nevada was 193 - 200 = 96.5%.
Three women would have qualified in Las Vegas with the lowest score being 23 – 25 (92%), however they elected not to compete in the finals.
The Championship round was won by NBSA founder, and recent Huntsman Hall of Fame inductee, Bob Owen, of Indiana.
