Three
days after the Las Vegas events, Monday October 12, we held our 4th
Annual NBSA / Huntsman World Senior Free Throw Championship in St.
George Utah. The Huntsman traditionally gets a total of about 200 women
and men to compete in their basketball shooting events and this was
true again this year. It’s always a great turn out of the best senior
basketball shooters in the world.
Unlike
the tournament just competed in Las Vegas, which qualifies 8 master
shooters in both the free throw and three point, at the Huntsman World
Senior Free Throw Championship we qualify the top 16 scores. This year
there were 2 – 25’s (perfect scores),10 - 24's and 4 - 23's. It was a
tough field. One has to be a master shooter to qualify for sure.
There
were many upsets, with the shooters who made 23 in the qualifying
rounds making perfect in the championship round and the shooters making
perfect earlier missing a few later.
Finally
we had a winner and finalist. The 2015 NBSA / Huntsman World Senior
Champion is James Pauley beating finalist, Mike Anderson.
We
now have a perpetual plaque with the winners from 2011, 2013 and 2014
listed. We will add James Pauley to the that list. Trophies were given
to the winner and finalist and NBSA Certificates of Excellence were
given to all the qualifiers.
Next
year we hope to have a basketball sponsor again and award all the
qualifiers new sponsor basketballs. News soon on that sponsor. Looking
forward to seeing more masters and everyone again next year.
